 SNPA+SND Course Description  
The PIX Firewall Specialist is a combination of the Cisco Secure PIX Firewall Advanced (CSPFA) course and the Securing Cisco IOS Networks (SECUR) course, both delivered together in one 5-day class. Because of the accelerated nature of the course, be prepared for long days in class -- 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM -- and a heavy study load. Also, not all material in the student manuals for each course will be reviewed in class. Students will have opportunities to ask questions on the material covered in the course kits that is not presented in class. The following are the descriptions of both included curricula presented separately.

 

Prerequisites

possess Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or the equivalent knowledge (working knowledge of basic network security and a solid grasp of TCP/IP and fundamental networking concepts)
be familiar with encryption technologies: DES, 3DES, RSA, hashing algorithms (MD5/SHA), and IPSec
have a basic knowledge of the Windows operating system.

Course Content

The CSPFA course is an instructor-led, lab-intensive course. This task-oriented course teaches the knowledge and skill needed to describe, configure, verify and manage the PIX Firewall product family.

Course Objectives

After completing this course the student should be able to:

Describe the features, functions, and benefits of the Cisco PIX Firewall.
Identify PIX Firewall features, models, components, and benefits.
Describe PIX Firewall installation procedures.
Perform basic configuration.
Explain the routing functionality of the PIX Firewall.
Configure routing on the PIX Firewall.
Configure the PIX Firewall to send messages to a Syslog server.
Configure the PIX Firewall as a DHCP client.
Configure special protocol handling on the PIX Firewall.
Describe how the PIX Firewall supports call handling sessions and VoIP call signaling.
Configure AAA on the PIX Firewall.
Configure shunning on the PIX Firewall.
Configure a site-to-site VPN using the PIX Firewall.
Configure a VPN Client-to-PIX Firewall VPN.
Configure the PIX Firewall's PPPoE client.
Perform password recovery on the PIX Firewall.
Install the PIX Device Manager and use it to configure the PIX Firewall.
Use the PIX Device Manager to monitor the PIX Firewall.
Configure a site-to-site VPN using the PIX Device Manager.
Test and verify PIX Firewall operations

Securing Cisco IOS Networks

Prerequisites

Students who attend this advanced course must have experience in configuring Cisco IOS software and have met the following prerequisites:

Certification as a CCNA or the equivalent knowledge (optional)
Basic knowledge of the Windows operating system
Familiarity with the networking and security terms and concepts (the concepts are learned in prerequisite training or by reading industry publications)

SECUR is an instructor-led, lab-intensive course delivered by HBFITES. This task-oriented course teaches the knowledge and skills needed to secure Cisco IOS router networks
